Camp Safety

Safety at Camp Jubilee (Hosted at Camp John Marc)

At Camp Jubilee, the safety and well-being of every camper is our top priority. Our program is hosted at Camp John Marc, a facility nationally recognized for its commitment to safe and inclusive camp experiences. All staff and volunteers are carefully screened, selected, and trained. The on-site medical team is the same team that cares for campers year-round at their home hospital or doctor’s office, ensuring consistent and trusted care. Risk management principles are strictly followed, and emergency procedures are reviewed and practiced regularly.

We also believe emotional safety is just as important as physical safety. At the start of each camp week, campers participate in an age-appropriate safety conversation. During this time, we share policies and procedures and empower every child to speak up if something ever feels unsafe or not right.

At Camp Jubilee, safety is not just a priority; it’s a shared responsibility.

Staff and Volunteer Safety Standards

Every Camp Jubilee volunteer serving at camp completes a thorough screening process. This includes an application, interview, reference checks, and background checks. Each member is trained in the Camp John Marc Code of Ethics, child development best practices, and risk management.

Before each camp session, staff and volunteers are also educated on the specific medical needs of the campers they will serve. Volunteers at week-long camps complete the Abuse Prevention System’s online sexual abuse awareness training before arrival.

Emergency Procedures

Emergency preparedness is vital. At Camp John Marc, procedures are carefully reviewed and practiced regularly to protect campers in a variety of situations. These include:

  • Lost camper protocols
  • Severe weather safety plans
  • Intruder or violent situation response
  • Medical emergencies requiring ambulance or helicopter transport

By hosting Camp Jubilee at Camp John Marc, we ensure that our campers experience a safe, supportive, and joyful week of camp.
